FAQ - Localization and Location
In this section, you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding the functioning of localization, location accuracy, setting the tracking interval, or resolving situations when the location is not displayed correctly. You will also learn why the location sometimes does not update, what affects the accuracy of the data, and how to obtain current information as quickly as possible.
In the app, you have two options to track where the watch is currently located:
1. Requesting the current location
Whenever you want to know the exact location of your child, simply press the "Request Location" button in the app. The app will immediately display the most up-to-date available information.
2. Automatic location sending
The watch can also send its location regularly according to the chosen interval – for example, every 10, 15, or 30 minutes. You can find the interval settings directly in the app under the "Watch Settings" section.
Note: Automatic sending works only when the child is wearing the watch. If the watch is not being worn (for example, lying on a table), the location will not be sent.
How to set the location sending interval:
- Open the Findee Kids app.
- Go to Watch Settings.
- Select the Location Sending option.
- Choose the desired time interval (e.g., 10, 30, or 60 minutes).
- Save the settings.
Important notice:
- The watch sends the location only when it is in motion (e.g., when your child is wearing it).
- If the watch is lying still, the location will not be sent to save battery.
To check the current location at any time, press the Request Location button in the app.
Our mission is to provide all parents with peace of mind through a reliable connection with their children and to meet their basic needs while fostering children's independence—knowing where the child is and having the ability to communicate with them anywhere in the world.
Our goal is to become the first choice for parents across Europe who are looking for a safe solution for monitoring and protecting their children, without sacrificing the privacy and comfort of our users.
The watch sends the location at the set interval only when it detects movement – that is, when the child is wearing it and moving. If the watch is lying still, for example on a table, the location is not sent at all to save battery. Therefore, it may happen that the set interval is not adhered to.
If you set the location to be sent every 10 minutes, but the child stops after 7 minutes and takes off the watch, the location will not be sent at the scheduled time.
If you need to find out the current location of the child, simply press the "Request Location" button in the Findee Kids app. After a moment, the current location will be displayed on the map.
The accuracy of the watch's location depends on several factors – primarily on where the watch is located, how strong the signal is in that area, and from what source we obtain the location.
The watch uses three types of location determination:
- GPS - the most accurate outdoors
- Wi-Fi – precise especially in cities and buildings
- BTS (mobile transmitters) – least accurate, used as a backup
The watch sends several available locations, and the Findee Kids app displays the most accurate one. The accuracy can vary – from 2 meters to 500 meters – depending on the environment and the quality of the signal at that moment.
For example: when you request the location and the watch has a weak signal, the location may be less accurate. If you request the location again a little later, the result may be significantly more accurate.
Based on parents' experiences, we have added a feature to the app that shows:
- the most up-to-date approximate location (displayed with a circle)
- and at the same time the last known exact GPS location
Thanks to this, you have an overview of both where the watch is likely located right now and the last verified position.
In some situations, such as trains, basements, or houses without Wi-Fi, no precise location may be available. In such cases, the watch will use less accurate BTS localization. Conversely, in public buildings (e.g., shopping centers), the location is usually very accurate due to available Wi-Fi networks.
The KLOKI watch uses a smart positioning system that always automatically selects the most accurate available source – depending on where the child is located.
We use three types of localization:
- GPS - the most accurate method, ideal for outdoor use, with an accuracy of up to 2 meters.
- Wi-Fi – works great in cities and public buildings, often with accuracy to within a few meters.
- BTS (mobile transmitters) – used in areas with weak GPS signals, such as in buildings or on trains. The accuracy can be up to several hundred meters to 2 kilometers.
The Findee Kids app always shows the currently best available location. If the signal is weak or the watch is not in a suitable environment, an approximate location marked by a circle will be displayed – this means that the watch is located somewhere in this area.
What affects location accuracy?
- Placement of the watch (indoors, underground, on a train)
- Availability of Wi-Fi or GPS signal
- Density of mobile transmitters in the area
Tip 1: In the app, you can choose whether you want to display the most current location (even if it's less accurate) or prefer the most accurate record, which may be older.
Tip 2: In shopping centers or schools, the location is often very accurate thanks to the public Wi-Fi network, while in places like trains or mountains, it may only be approximate.
No, the watch's location cannot be obtained via SMS.
Location tracking occurs through a data connection, and the current location of the watch is displayed directly in the parent app Findee Kids. You can download the app from the following links:
If you need to find out the current location of the watch, even when it is not in motion, just follow these steps:
- Open the Findee Kids app on your phone.
- Select the watch whose location you want to find out.
- In the watch menu, click the “Request Location” button.
- The app will send a request, and shortly you will see the current location of the watch on the map.
If the watch is not sending location, it may be due to several common reasons:
- Network coverage – The watch may be out of mobile network range or shielded (e.g., in a backpack or building), which limits its ability to send location.
- Inactivity of the watch – The location is automatically sent only when the watch is in motion. If the child takes off the watch or is sitting for an extended period, the watch tries to save battery and does not send the location.
- Your phone's signal – Make sure that your mobile phone also has a good internet connection to properly receive data from the watch.
You can use the “Request Location” button in the Findee Kids app at any time for the current location.
For the "Request Location" function to work correctly, it is important that the watch is set up properly – specifically the time and date. If this information is not current, there may be issues displaying the location.
We recommend checking and, if necessary, adjusting the settings directly on the watch. Follow these steps:
- Open Settings on the watch
- Select More
- Proceed to the Date and Time section
Activate the option for Automatic date and time setting
